Payout counts come from MUFAP payout records for the twelve months to the latest recorded payout; a missing record does not always mean no payout was made. Returns include payouts reinvested, before sales loads and taxes. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Islamic Funds provides information, not investment advice.
Questions, answered
Yes. Many Islamic money market and income funds pay out every month, and some declare a payout every day that is paid out or reinvested monthly. You can usually choose to receive payouts in cash, which gives you a regular income, or reinvest them. The amount changes every month because it depends on what the fund earns.
Every Shariah-compliant fund that made a payout in at least 10 of the last 12 months, according to MUFAP payout records, and has a verified 1-year return. They are ranked by 1-year total return with payouts reinvested.
It depends. A bank account offers a set profit rate and deposit protection up to a limit, while a fund’s income varies with markets and is not insured. Funds publish their returns daily and are often competitive, but compare the latest rates, fees, tax and how quickly you can withdraw before deciding.
Roughly your investment multiplied by the fund’s annual return, divided by twelve, before tax. For example, Rs 1,000,000 in a fund earning 10% a year would pay around Rs 8,300 a month, but the actual figure changes every month. Use the profit calculator to try your own numbers.
Each payout lowers the NAV by about the amount paid, so if you take payouts in cash your number of units stays the same while you receive the income. If you reinvest, you get extra units instead. Either way, your total return is the same before tax.
